New Smyrna, Fl. (February 10, 2017) – Driver Zane Smith will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut during Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway in the series’ season-opener Jet Tools 150 on Sunday, February 19.
Smith, a native of Huntington Beach, CA will make his first K&N Pro Series appearance driving the No.43 Calabrese Motorsports prepared Toyota Camry with support from Speed Vegas, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Pro-Am Racing, LaPaz Margarita Mix and KMC Wheels.
“This is a big one,” says Smith. “New Smyrna is a great track – it’s the place I started my super late model career and first got noticed – it’s a special place for me. I can’t think of a better place to make my K&N debut. I’m thankful for the opportunity and the continued support from all my sponsors. This is a great chance to continue my development and prepare for the upcoming season.”
Considered by many as one of the top driver prospects in the country, Smith gained national recognition in 2015 when we won the overall Super Late Model championship at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway (FL). During his breakout season the talented teen recorded three PASS South Wins and a CARS Super Late Model Tour win. Capping off a successful ’15 season, Smith finished second at the prestigious Snowball Derby – runner up to this year’s current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series leading Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, Chase Elliott.
Smith, who also signed with Venturini Motorsports during the off-season will run for SCOTT Rookie of the Year honors in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Smith will compete in 18 ARCA Series events piloting the potent Venturini Motorsports prepared No.55 Toyota Camry.
